Sr. Software Engineer – SoC Designer
Location: Irvine CA
Background
Forming part of Carbon’s complete solution for ESL, the Platform group in Irvine produces tools and models which enable architecture exploration as well as improvements in software quality and reduced time to market through cycle and implementation accurate virtual prototyping. The products work at the cycle-based and transaction-based abstraction levels, combining the speed of C/C++ with the accuracy of RTL, to provide a complete platform for modeling and programming multi-core SoCs.
A key product in the Carbon ESL tools portfolio is SoC Designer, a system level simulation technology that enables highest simulation performance with full hardware accuracy while allowing extensive debugging of systems and software. SoC Designer is the ideal solution for architecture exploration and embedded software development.
Responsibilities
The Software Engineer is expected to provide substantial technical leadership and contribute to all aspects of software development cycle for the SoC Designer product, including but not limited to requirements specification, implementation, test, release management, maintenance, and working with teams at other sites and with partners and customers.

Requirements:
Essential Skills & Experience
- MS or PhD in Computer Engineering or related field
- 7 years of software programming experience
- Solid C/C++ and object oriented programming, software architecture
- Professional experience in developing with Visual C++ and gcc
Desirable Skills
- Object oriented GUI development experience in C++ on Unix using QT
- Knowledge and understanding of the SystemC language
- Working knowledge of microprocessors, embedded software, systems and SoC designs
- Working knowledge of EDA flows for implementation, system and software development and verification
- Experience in ESL tool development
Interpersonal Skills
- Able to take on tasks independently
- Exceptional verbal & written communication, leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
