Overview
Carbon Model Studio generates models which integrate directly into ARM® RealView® SoC Designer. The Carbon/ARM combination enables designers to rapidly develop and assemble complete virtual platforms which can be used to explore architectural tradeoffs and perform pre-silicon software development.
Rapid Development of RealView SoC Designer Components
Components generated by Carbon Model Studio automatically plug directly into the SoC Designer platform. This enables a compiled Carbon component to be dragged-and-dropped onto the SoC Designer canvas. Carbon Model Studio’s straightforward graphical user interface enables the user to quickly create a Carbon model, configure its software visible registers and link with SoC Designer’s cycle accurate interfaces.
Accelerated Software Debug and Profiling
SoC Designer Components generated by Carbon Model Studio are integrated using ARM’s CASI/CADI/CAPI protocols. This gives the software engineer complete visibility into the Carbon Model. All registers and memories in the model can be queried, modified
or used as breakpoints. In addition, all Carbon Models have the capability to dump waveforms. This enables the software and hardware engineer to work together to debug complex system problems or any hardware problems which are uncovered by running software.
