Overview
Carbon Model Studio generates SystemC models which can be integrated with a Synopsys validation platform. The Carbon/Synopsys combination enables designers to rapidly develop and assemble complete virtual platforms which can be used to explore architectural tradeoffs and perform pre-silicon software development.
Rapid Development of Synopsys Components
Integrating Carbon models to a Synopsys validation platform is a simple API mapping exercise. Carbon enables the inclusion of system-level models generated from RTL as shown below with the Carbon logo identification. These models communicate directly to Synopsys using SystemC. Carbon Models are cycle-accurate to the RTL, allowing complex hardware / software interaction bugs to be found and fixed before tapeout.
Accelerated Software Debug and Profiling
SystemC Components generated by Carbon Model Studio enable SystemC platforms to be assembled rapidly and accurately. Software engineers have complete visibility into all of the Carbon Model’s software visible registers and memories. In addition, all Carbon Models have the capability to dump waveforms. This enables the software and hardware engineer to work together to debug complex system problems or any hardware problems which are uncovered by running software.
